In the context of romantic relationship, many adolescents are involved in emotionally and physically intimate relationships, which increases the risk of violence. Various forms of violence can arise, such as physical, psychological, and sexual violence.
Physical violence is one of the most obvious forms, where the perpetrator performs actions such as hitting or kicking their partner. According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), about one in three women in the world experience physical or sexual violence.
These acts of violence often start small, such as pinching or pushing, and can develop into something more serious if not stopped. For example, a man might slap his girlfriend for not replying to a message quickly, taking the action as a lesson.

Perempuan show that sexual violence is the most common form of dating violence. In many cases, victims feel pressured and forced to do things they don’t want to, such as having sex as a proof of love.
On the other hand, psychological or emotional abuse is often harder to recognize but just as dangerous. Degrading, controlling and humiliating actions can destroy a partner’s confidence and mental health. For example, a boyfriend or girlfriend who constantly demands attention and isolates their partner from their friends creates a dangerous environment that can result in long-term impacts on the victim’s mental health.
The factors that trigger dating violence are diverse. From a psychological perspective, a lack of skills in managing emotions and poor communication patterns can make a person more likely to use violence as a solution to conflict. Disharmonious family environments also play a big role; children who grow up in violent environments often consider such behavior as normal in relationships. In addition, patriarchal social and cultural norms often reinforce the view that men have the right to control women.
To prevent and address dating violence, it is important for teens to recognize the signs of unhealthy relationships and have the courage to talk about their feelings. Building a commitment to mutual respect and good communication is key to creating a healthy relationship. If experiencing violence, it is important to take immediate action by walking away or ending the relationship.
Awareness of this issue must be raised in the community so that dating violence can be minimized. With support from loved ones and access to the right resources, women can find a way out of these dangerous situations and build healthier relationships in the future.
Dating violence against women is still a serious social problem and often occurs in various forms, such as physical, sexual and psychological violence.
This violence is not only physically harmful but also adversely affects the mental and emotional health of the victim. Various factors can be triggers, such as social norms that justify male dominance in relationships, as well as the misuse of technology to control partners.
To prevent and overcome dating violence, it is important for each individual to recognize the signs of an unhealthy relationship, have the courage to speak up, and not be afraid to end an abusive relationship.
Building a shared commitment to mutual respect, healthy communication, and support from family and friends are also important steps in creating a safe and harmonious relationship.
