LABUAN BAJO TERKINI – Have you ever thought about what digital literacy is? Digital literacy is the ability to use digital literacy effectively and responsibly, including in accessing, understanding, evaluating and creating information in the digital world.
Digital literacy is not only about technical skills, but also about understanding the ethics, security, and social impacts of using technology.
Therefore, it is important for students to understand and have skills to overcome this problem and assistance from schools and the government.
First, access to technology. Access to technological devices such as smartphones, laptops, and the internet are the main factors that influence digital literacy.
Without adequate access, students will have difficulty developing their digital skills. For example, in remote villages, many students do not have laptops or stable internet access.
When teachers give assignments through digital platforms, they will have difficulty doing them because they can only access the internet at school.
As a result, their ability to use technology to learn develops more slowly than students in cities who have adequate digital access and facilities.
Second, the stability and quality of students need to be developed properly, therefore the importance of government assistance or intervention to overcome problems in digital literacy.
By providing complete and adequate facilities, it can certainly help children’s development. For example, the government provides free internet access in schools, distributes devices such as tablets or computers to underprivileged students, and also holds training for teachers so that they can teach digital literacy more effectively.
That way, students can master and understand digital media well. With the development of good and even technology, digital literacy has become an important skill for students to be able to learn and adapt in the digital era.
However, challenges such as limited access to technology and lack of educational support are still obstacles. Therefore, the role of the government and schools is needed in providing adequate facilities and effective training.
With the right support, students can master digital literacy well, so that they are ready to face challenges and use technology wisely for a better future.
